Whether studying globalization, agricultural systems, or urban landscapes, many research questions have a spatial component.
Here we talk though the basics of how to bring spatial analyses into research, where to find spatially-explicit datasets, how to transform datasets to be spatially explicit, and finally the tools needed to run spatial analyses.
Here we learn about environmental, social, and governance issues surrounding the ingredients of the mocha cappuccino-coffee, chocolate, sugar, and milk. Then we analyze third party certifications, and evaluate how effective they are at solving these issues.
Here we focus on the basics of research design, with the goal to write an NSF-Style research proposal. We learn about identifying research objectives, integrating theory, and different analytical approaches. Finally I provide a list of top 20 writing tips to make proposals shine. This builds from my experience running a small grants program for the Wildlife Conservation Society, as well as a panel reviewer for NASA where I was a scholar and the Norwegian Research Council.
